You didn't put in 45 years to settle for beige.
01 / Watch · Omega Seamaster Diver 300M
James Bond has worn this watch on screen since 1995. Daniel Craig kept it on his wrist through his whole run as 007. It's a dive instrument, not jewelry. Treat it well and it outlives you… then your son wears it.
New: around $6,500 in steel. Pre-owned: $4,000 to $5,000.
Here's the part most men miss. Used, it sells for about a quarter under retail. Let the first buyer pay for the shine. Look at Chrono24 or Bob's Watches.
02 / Car · Porsche 911
Skip the mid-life Lamborghini. The Porsche 911 says the same thing with less noise… you made it. Steve McQueen drove one. Jerry Seinfeld has collected them for decades. The design has held since 1964. That is rare. Book a test drive this month. You'll remember what your right foot is for.
03 / James Bond's Drink · The Vesper Martini
This is Bond's own drink, from Casino Royale. Gin, a little vodka, a splash of Lillet, shaken. Churchill loved a dry martini. Hemingway took his ice-cold. Learn to make one well. Then you're never the man fumbling at his own bar.
Drink it where it started: Dukes Bar in London, Ian Fleming's old local. The words “shaken, not stirred” were born at that bar. A barman still wheels a trolley to your table and pours it chilled, to the rim. The limit is two drinks. They mean it. (You'll see why… so go easy, per the sleep note above.)
